Thai Foot Massage

Thai foot massage is an ancient therapy dating back over 2000 years, and was used by ayurvedic doctors and Buddhist monks.

Traditional Thai Foot Massage uses a combination of thumbs, hands and a wooden acupressure tool.

Massage is performed on the lower legs and feet with the use of rubbing, kneading, stretching and vibration techniques to rebalance the body.

It focuses on the energy lines (Sen lines) in the body and works the reflex/pressure points on the soles of the feet which relate to various internal organs and basic body forces.

By using the techniques described, blocked energy can be released and functions re balanced, producing a very therapeutic effect.

Whilst Thai foot massage can help to relieve various disorders, it can also be an amazing therapy to promote overall health, increase energy, provide a general sense of wellbeing, and produce a deep and unique sensation of balance and relaxation.

The therapy involves the client lying on a couch while the therapist applies a massage cream to the lower legs and feet and works on these using the various techniques described.

The feet are worked on one foot at a time and the foot which is not being worked on is wrapped in a towelling boot to keep it warm and cosy.

A small wooden stick made of rosewood is used to gently but firmly to work the pressure points on the soles of the feet.
